Let’s talk about something that’s heavy, real, and often invisible: The emotional weight of caregiving.

Whether you're caring for aging parents, supporting your kids through big transitions, or carrying the emotional load for everyone else in your life… it’s a lot. And most of us are doing it while trying to keep everything else afloat—jobs, health, households, relationships, you name it.

I recently released a podcast episode where I got personal about what caregiving has looked and felt like for me. You can listen to it here:
🎧 Navigating the Emotional Load of Caregiving

But I also wanted to share what I’ve learned in writing—because sometimes seeing it in black and white reminds us: we’re not alone.

The Emotional Load Is More Than Just To-Dos

Caregiving isn’t just physical. It’s emotional, mental, and all-consuming. You’re not just taking care of someone—you’re also managing the unspoken stress, the guilt, the mental checklists, and the constant sense that you should be doing more. This kind of emotional labor builds slowly. And if you’re not careful, it can chip away at your joy, your peace, and your sense of self.

Grief Without Goodbye

One of the hardest parts for me was realizing I was grieving—without a loss.
Grieving what life used to look like.
Grieving the version of myself who had more freedom.
Grieving the changing dynamics in my relationships.

We don’t talk about that part enough. But it’s real. And valid.

Trying to Hold It All Together

The reality is, many of us are caregiving on top of everything else.
Work. Kids. Health. Life.
It’s not sustainable—and yet we keep going.

In the podcast, I shared some of the ways I’ve coped, the breaking points I’ve hit, and how I’m slowly learning to offer myself more grace.

What I Want You to Remember

You are not weak for being tired.
You are not selfish for needing space.
You don’t have to be “on” every single day.
And if no one else has told you lately—you’re doing more than enough.
